​A Young Heart, A Powerful Impact

Today’s Reflection — Acknowledging 13-Year-Old Zac Waters

Today, I want to acknowledge a remarkable young person — 13-year-old Zac Waters from the United States — whose compassion and creativity have touched me deeply.

At an age when most children are discovering their interests and talents, Zac chose to use his talent to make a difference in someone else’s life.

He spent nearly 300 hours designing and 3D-printing a customised chair especially for women with disabilities.

This is much more than an innovative piece of design.

It is about comfort, safety, dignity, mobility and independence.

What moves me most is that Zac did not simply identify a problem. He thought about the people living with that problem and asked himself:

“What can I do to help?”

And then he acted.

As I work closely with the cause of women with disabilities and inclusion, I understand how important such practical solutions can be. Too often, women with disabilities face barriers that go far beyond mobility—barriers of accessibility, independence, opportunity and dignity.

Zac’s initiative reminds us that inclusion is not merely about providing support.

It is about creating a world where every person can participate with dignity and equal opportunity.

And this young boy has shown us something very powerful:

You do not have to wait until you are older to create change.

You don’t need a position.

You don’t need a title.

You don’t need to be famous.

You need a caring heart, a creative mind, and the courage to act.

Zac, your chair may have been created through technology, but the idea behind it came from something much more powerful — empathy.

Thank you for reminding all of us that innovation becomes meaningful when it serves humanity.

May your journey inspire many more young people to look around them, recognise a need, and say:

“Perhaps I can make a difference.”

Age may be a number, but compassion has no age.

Let us encourage our young people not only to dream of a better world, but to build it—one thoughtful idea, one act of kindness, and one life at a time.
